Our enthusiasm for canal holidays started with a 50th birthday present of a week on the Llangollen. Despite the dog nearly drowning within the first hour we spent a beautiful week in May and the bug had bitten so to speak. We continued to hire for the following 3 years including a two week hire with a puppy and still loved it.
Talking to various people during that trip led with us to proceed with two shared syndicate boats (with two different management companies) which gave us 7 weeks cruising during the year. Even the winter weather didn’t put us off. After enjoying a further two years of all-weather cruising we finally talked ourselves into finding our own ‘floating home’.
We had no idea how to proceed but a thumb through old copies of Canal Boat gave us lots of samples of completed boats and testimonials for various boat builders.
