EvoEnergy partnered with Leicester City Council in 2012 in a bid to reduce
the city’s carbon emissions. The forward thinking scheme consisted of EvoEnergy installing free solar PV
onto over 700 homes in Leicester, allowing social housing tenants to benefit
from lower energy bills. The properties will generate around 1.4 million units of electricity a year, with
each tenant saving on average £160 a year on their electricity usage.
With an average output of 2.6kWh per property, the project has included a
total of over 7000 panels installed, amounting to 1.8MW of solar electricity.
Due to the success so far, Leicester City Council intends to continue the
scheme with EvoEnergy in a bid to reduce the region’s fuel poverty numbers.
